Why limit ourselves to nude beaches? Because we are made to!
Submitted by JoMulholland on Sat, 2007-03-10 18:52.It feels a bit like being driven into the sea. I trust that on this site and through my own blog here, my understanding of the situation will be believed.
Eco nudes basically advocates taking it off and letting it go, wherever suitable, or possible, to protect what we have.
Smoke-Free Free Beaches
Submitted by Gerald Ganglbauer on Fri, 2007-03-09 12:19.These days, not many naturists seem to smoke, or do smoke on our free beaches; and those who do light up are usually pretty good in bringing their pocket ashtrays and in taking their cigarette butts back to a bin to dispose of properly, considering the fragile marine environment.
However, we know about Manly's Smoke Free Zones and that "Council’s initial Council resolution regarding Smoke Free Zones was taken on 17 May 2004 Manly Council, at its Ordinary Council Meeting, where it was resolved to ban smoking on: [amongst other areas] Manly's ocean and harbour beaches."
As long as it goes ahead

I once read a quote that went something like "if you argue with idiots all you get is two idiots arguing". Lets respect their right to oppose us. After all we more than anyone can see that their opposition is based on fear and misinformation. I for one, am really trying to be tolerant and respectful towards them - in a sense they are unwittingly providing us with much valuable publicity."
19 hours till Brisbane WNBR - IMPORTANT!
Submitted by Larrikin70 on Fri, 2007-03-09 11:31.Well, it's now 19 hours till the Brisbane World Naked Bike Ride. A point of order: the police escort who's going to be there on the day has now demanded that everyone wear at least a g-string or some swimming shorts for the event or else they will be making arrests. It seems like that they've caved into the demands of the gymnophobes instead of giving the participants and the media what they want. The police officer said that he finds nudity offensive, especially around kids, yet he calls himself the 'friendliest officer' out there. Basically, anyone who doesn't empathise or sympathise
Why limit ourselves to nude beaches, only?
Submitted by JoMulholland on Fri, 2007-03-09 07:42.In the editorial of Issue 3, of (the new) Sun and Health magazine, I read: "Why are we limiting ourselves by only campaigning for nude beaches? There are many other public areas that could be designated as nude."
Sarah had been on a trip 'across' Australia and found that in many parts she was in places ( in camping spots, in national parks) where there was no need to put clothes on, in the morning.
[worldnakedbikeridebrisbane] STOP PRESS - IMPORTANT!!
Submitted by Larrikin70 on Wed, 2007-03-07 16:57.I've just got the word from a film-maker friend who is covering the event that she spoke to the cops about the bike ride.
They are sending out an escort on the day to keep a watch on the event, and have stipulated that *EVERYONE* bring a pair of bathing shorts or a g-string to the ride. If they don't, then they will forcibly call off the event.
"Clean Beach Challenge" - wrong name?
Submitted by JoMulholland on Tue, 2007-03-06 10:17.Elsewhere on this site, I have responded to the challenge of enumerating the benefits of naturists / nudists nominating beaches in this competition.
The naming of this competition is often discussed. In my opinion, it would work better in Dutch (or German?) because Schoonste Strand translates not only as cleanest beach but also as most beautiful beach.
What is Nudism or Naturism

The Politics of Living Naked in Public
Submitted by Editor on Mon, 2007-03-05 13:02.It is all very well that we live a naked lifestyle at home and at the nudist beach, but to really help mitigate global warming the naked activist wants/needs to live that naked lifestyle everywhere.
A t-shirt not worn at home to help mitigate climate change suddenly forces us to add to carbon emissions and climate change because we have to don the darn thing to go to the local shop.
Become a Naked Vegetarian
Submitted by Editor on Mon, 2007-03-05 12:38.The 'Cool the Globe' TV program on channel 10 on Sunday the 4th of March 2007 proclaimed, amongst other things, that the production of meat produces 40 times more carbon in the atmosphere compared to the production of fruit and vegetables.
The presenter further explained that especially the methane gas contained in the 'wind' passed by cows and pigs was a big contributor to global warming.
So it seems the dedicated naked global warming campaigner will also strife towards a naked vegetarian lifestyle. Or at least cut her consumption of such 'carbon heavy' foods to a minimum.
"What spirit is so empty and blind, that it cannot recognize the fact that the foot is more noble than the shoe, and skin more beautiful than the garment with which it is clothed?"
