Problem uploading images
Submitted by full-monte on Sun, 2010-02-07 20:58.
Hi Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong. I am trying to upload a few images to the galleries on this site from folders on our PC. I can browse to the PC folder ok select an image, give it a title and click the submit button at the bottom of the page but it simply redisplays the upload page with the image path empty and highlighted in red. Any ideas?

Re: Problem uploading images
Hi full-monte,
I have just checked on your issue and I think your image file sizes may have been too large. The original file size limit was set at 100kb. I have increased that now to a more generous 200kb.
For some reason, the maximum allowable image dimensions configuration item was missing too. I have corrected that and set the maximum dimension (width or height) at 800px.
Please first reduce/re-sample your image file to 800px with 256 colours although the web site should do any needed reducing for you.
Please try again... :-)
Thank you,
webmaster

Thanks Webmaster - apologies for the delay in responding.
I think you may need to further increase the file size limit. I reduced the image to 800 x 500 pixels as suggested but the file size was still almost 700kb. I eventually managed to get the file size down to under 200kb but had to resize the picture to 300x199 which in my opinion is a little too small.
I am surprised there aren't more pictures in some of your galleries. Could it be that other potential contributors are having similar problems uploading? Would love to hear from them if they are.
We have a number of images that we would love to post on this site as we think our eco-project and campsite is exactly what your readers would like to hear about but resizing images to suit the current site limitations will be rather an arduous task.
Your thoughts?

Re:Problem uploading images - update
Hi All,
I think I may have found the answer to my problem. In order to try to maintain quality I set my jpeg compression options in my photo editing software to highest quality - so no matter how much I reduced the image size the resultant filesize is too large. I have now set the jpg compression factor from 1 to 15 and have just resized an image within the dimension and file size limits of this site. Still a bit of a task though. Any chance we could increase the file size limit a little more?
