Bare Skin to Save Bears

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is calling on you to protest bears getting a bum rap by baring your own bum! Come participate in our one-of-a-kind demonstration in central London against the use of real bear fur for the UK Palace Guards’ hats - http://unbearablecruelty.com.

To represent a bear killed for a Palace Guard’s hat, we’re looking for around 150 compassionate people for this eye-catching demonstration. Each person will be strategically placed to create a stunning visual display wearing nothing but a bear mask and fake blood.

You will need to be available from 9 a.m. sharp until 2:00 p.m. (You will only be baring your skin for thirty minutes or less of that time from around noon!).

We held a similar demonstration in 2006 as you can see from this video - http://www.petatv.com/tvpopup/Prefs.asp?video=unbearable_cruelty_uk. It was extremely well received by the media and the public. We need to make this demonstration even bigger and better.

Right now, somewhere in Canada, black bears are sadly still being hunted down and killed for “sport.” Many of them will be shot several times before they die. Some will escape the hunters and slowly die from blood loss, gangrene, infection, starvation or dehydration. Mothers who are killed will leave orphaned cubs behind to starve. Each cap can take the skin of one entire bear.

Because our friends at Lush love bears too, they will be giving the first 100 people to sign up to bare their skin for the bears a free Buffy exfoliating scrub. This product is vegan and amazingly good: https://www.lush.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypa...

Attention non-Londoners: You too can take part! Unfortunately we cannot pay for your travel and stay, but it’s possible to get to London (without flights please!) from other places in the UK very affordably through services like http://MegaBus.com. Why not make a weekend trip to London out of it? MegaBus.com advertises that it offers bookings starting at £1 + 50p booking fee (if you book in advance). From outside of the UK, try http://www.eurolines.com/ - If you do not have a friend or relative to stay with, it is possible to find affordable places to stay in London through http://HostelWorld.com.

Please seriously consider taking part in this landmark event. Your presence will help us get one step closer to the day that bearskin caps are relegated to the history books where they belong! To ensure you are counted and get further information, please RSVP on http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/event.php?eid=115350236240&ref=ts or by writing to poorvajatpeta [dot] org [dot] uk and pledge to bare your skin for the bears June 7th. We will then send you the meeting location and further details in due course.

Please make it a point to forward this alert to at least five people you think would be interested and able to participate and ask them to do the same.
