[worldnakedbikeridebrisbane] STOP PRESS - IMPORTANT!!
I've just got the word from a film-maker friend who is covering the event that she spoke to the cops about the bike ride.
They are sending out an escort on the day to keep a watch on the event, and have stipulated that *EVERYONE* bring a pair of bathing shorts or a g-string to the ride. If they don't, then they will forcibly call off the event.
At this point in time, they do believe that some of these gymnophobic mums may be at the ride and they don't want any trouble from them on the day. I was hoping that if these people complain then it's up to the police to eject them from the place. It's like what another letter writer said to them: you don't like what's on tv, turn the channel over.
I am someone who at heart does not like to compromise my principles for anybody, but at the same time I don't want the wowsers to win. I frankly don't understand their mentality - if they don't like the sight of the human body in public why don't they stay within the confinements of their home or better still gouge their eyes out as one of our greatest teachers suggested?
But when push comes to shove, we should still go ahead with the ride. The only thing is that the majority of people (nudist or not) love to see nudity on tv, and by caving in to the wishes of the wowsers we'll end up disappointing the viewers.
We've already got the media on our side with the environmentalist theme, now the next thing we need to win them over is that public and social nudity being a human right and to repeal the wilful exposure laws. How we're going to do that and enjoy the same rights that Europeans have will be another matter.
Let me know your thoughts either on here, or by calling me on (0437) 428-859.
