There's the FBA and the ANF and there's Bob Reed!

It was Bob Reed who was contacted, when the Sydney Morning Herald needed some informed comments about the police raid on Little Congwong and the Spencer Tunick project, involving Sydney (and the Opera House area).

When I see a story like this I can't help but wonder why they call places like Europe the "Old Country" when in truth is they are more progressive, forward thinking and tolerant than than the young upstarts like Canada, the US, and Australia who seem to grow more prudish by the minute.
A growing thriving society is supposed move forward in their thinking and actions, keeping in mind the mental physical and social well being of the people entrusted to they're care.

It's always remained a mystery to me why a people can simply shrug their shoulders and carry on with their daily lives all the while knowing that the world around them is being destroyed by pollution and greed, and fellow humans are tortured and murdered daily but let a person take their cloths off in a public setting and they shake their fists in anger and demand that something be done.

The world is best enjoyed with an open mind, clear eyes, and a nude body.

Your comment hits the nail on its head !

And yes, Australia (where I have lived for 30 years and don't ever want to live anywhere else) is a rather prudish place. But the great thing is that there is enough space to totally get away from it all - and get totally immersed in nature. My wife and I do this as often as we can, all over Australia, but most often in the Flinders Ranges in South Australia and the Pilbara in NW-Western Australia. There, we can camp and hike for days without ever wearing clothes. We can swim in waterholes and hike through gorges and up mountains (like Mt. Bruce in WA) meeting other people only very very rarely. Nothing beats the feeling of being naked and one with nature.

My wife (a world-renown indian and modern dancer) - with some input from me - has translated this experience into several dance pieces, where she performs partially or even totally in the nude - on festivals and in theatres around the world (like in Avignon, France, in Japan and Switzerland) to the great acclaim of dance critics ("a show for all ages" in a French newspaper), but we have not "dared" to do some of these shows in Australia yet, because we feel that people will it take the "wrong" way.

Perhaps groups like the FBA can help to overcome this idiotic and illogical attitude sooner or later...

Thanks,

Hi Kerry,
I agree with your comments and think that we suffer from a severe dose of prudish people in Australia!

I feel that everyone should be free to do and live as they please as long as they don't force their ideas or way of life onto others.

Every beach should have a nudist area, and those prudes who can't handle it should stay up the other end.

Thanks for sharing your ideas.
