DALLAS, Texas (January 17, 2014) -- On January 13, 2014, citizens who enjoy clothing optional recreation posted a petition on the Barack Obama administration's "We the People" website, asking policy makers to designate more federally-owned park lands, forests and beaches for clothing optional access. By January 16 the petition had gained the requisite 150 signatures to make the petition searchable and visible on the website.
The National Parks Service, U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management has a long history of designating portions of federally-managed public lands for specific groups of recreational users. People who enjoy operating all-terrain vehicles, snowmobiling, skiing, surfing and hunting have all been beneficiaries of these special use designations.
There are a few recognized clothing optional beaches on lands managed by the National Park Service including Apollo Beach, Canaveral National Seashore in Florida and Gunnison Beach, part of the Sandy Hook unit of the Gateway National Recreation Area in New Jersey. These clothing optional beaches are not however officially designated as such by NPS. NPS merely tolerates nude sunbathing and skinny dipping at these locations because of long-standing traditions of clothing optional use of portions of these beaches.
With the advent of the festive season of the year 2013 I decided to send my season wishes via FB and informedplanet.com. This is what I wrote just before the 25th of December:
"That long wished for and oft spoken message of Christmas can only ever come true, I believe, when each one of us decides, just for ourselves, to stop committing abuse.
Promise yourself never to abuse anything or anyone again.
Well, my fellow fabric-shunning nature friends,
I am of the younger "digital native" generation. Yet this is my first ever blog post....
Why? Because I have a passion and a deep concern about something I adore, which seems to be increasingly shunned by mainstream society. Nudism/naturism/whatever you want to call the act of enjoying nature (often public) undressed, without fear of persecution.
This public opinion in itself doesn't bother me so much; but the stigma of the "shadier elements" of public nudity jeopardises my favourite thing about my city - north swanbourne beach.
Den and I became nudists almost by accident! In 2009 I lost my rental (it was sold) and decided to move into a campervan I had recently purchased (second - hand) I moved into the Donnybrook caravan park, and while Denz was visiting me one afternoon, we drove past Pacific Sun Friends. We turned to each other and said "Shall we give it a go" The rest is, as they say, History!
A start to ideas centred around the Naturist lifestyle
- Ride in a World Naked Bike Ride
- write a short story based on a naturist community
- spend a week at a naturist retreat
- write an article on positive self image based on Naturist values
- write an article on how Christian and naturist values are alligned eg. respect for self, others and the enviroment
- organise a nude bushwalk in one of the local nature reserves, as a fundraiser for a charity, and to raise awareness to Naturist lifestyle
More to come
Back in November 2011 I went on a 5 hour nude bushwalk in the Blue Mountains National Park, it was in a remote area of the park where I knew I would be unlikely to encounter any other people, so I could enjoy nature in the nude without offending anyone.
I would like to think that I am showing the world how to it is possible to be naked in a non sexual manner.
I walked down the almost trackless cliffs into the valley which only took about 25mins, but to come back out took almost 1 hour to crawl/scramble back up the cliff's.
EDIT: August 14th 2012 - I relaunched this article on various Facebook groups & immediately drew criticism from a couple of proponents of clubs & organised nudism, their argument's centred around being a member of a club as it is the only way to practice safe nudism & to forget about saving nude beaches because they are a lost cause... this is exactly the sort of attitude this article is targeting
The annual nude beach carnival at Samurai Beach at Anna Bay near Nelson Bay in NSW Australia is being held on Saturday the 4th of February 2012, this event is organised by CAVN (Coast And Valley Naturists)
Last years event attracted over 300 nude participants from all ages, they had egg & spoon/sack races (I came 2nd) hole in the bucket races & a nude body painting competition.

Not specifically a naturist B. & B., but clearly, staying with Bob Reed means that you could not be better informed regarding the naturist lifestyle in NSW, Australia, the World!!
